On the 24th May 2014, a Boerkin of friends got together to clean up the Burgher graves in Rustenburg.
All were excited and got going immediately.
The first thing to be done was to clear and remove all the rubble.
Thereafter, the grass was cut short and to our surprise a rectangular granite frame was found around the monument!
Afterwards, spades were used to expose the frame. A concrete slab underneath all the grass and soil was discovered. The soil was removed and the slab cleaned up.
Everyone was tired, but the end result was most satisfactory.
All these photos were taken on the 24th of May 2014
Our sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the cleanup! We are looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
